About IFRC ASIA                             


Islamic Food Research Centre Hong Kong (IFRC-Asia) is a Hong Kong halal certification body operating in China and Malaysia. IFRC-Asia was established in 2002 and started its operation as halal certification body in Malaysia under Bahtera Lagenda Sdn. Bhd. (BLSB) certifying local and export products, local and international food premises as well as food chains. IFRC-Asia certifies:

  • Pet Food
  • Other Consumer Products

IFRC-Asia is an active member of the World Halal Council (WHC), a federation of global halal certifiers and was granted a full membership in 2007. With this membership, IFRC-Asia is affiliated with Islamic Councils and Associations of 29 other members from all over the world such as Turkey, South Africa, USA, Pakistan, Russia, Germany etc. and recognised by the respective countries. IFRC-Asia has been the Official Secretariat for WHC since 2008. In 2019, IFRC-Asia CEO has been appointed as Assistant Treasurer.

In 2009, IFRC-Asia has been registered as halal certification body in Hong Kong and has since expanded its market to Hong Kong, China and the rest of Asia Region. In 2012, Malaysian Government has enforced a new ruling to appoint Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) as the sole halal certifier in Malaysia for locally distributed products and local food outlets. As a result, IFRC-Asia moved its target market from Malaysia companies to foreign companies mainly China and Asia Region. Currently, its number of clients has reached more than 700 companies. IFRC-Asia Logo is recognized and accepted worldwide.

From 7th January 2015 to 6th January 2017, IFRC-Asia has received recognition from Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS), a government Halal authority of Singapore.

On 28th May 2018IFRC-Asia has received recognition from Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (KMFDS) and in 2019, IFRC-Asia has received recognition from Islamic Cultural Association (Hong Kong).

On 12th May 2022, IFRC-Asia has received recognition from The Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT).
